A Moment of Calm

I'm lying face up on my living room floor
Seeing cracks on the ceiling not noticed before
Hear the kids playing football outside in the street
So still, there's a creeping cold in my feet
Pipes are gurgling, there's electricity buzz
And a plane is now humming it's flight path above
Stroke the soft carpet fibres, feel a calm setting in
Feel the blood track my veins, and its network within
As my busy mind settles, I breath out a sigh
Eyes gently closed, I'm now wondering why
Why did I lie here? I'm not sure I know
But for a moment of peace, to interrupt life's flow
To take a few minutes, to clear out my brain
Before I jump up to resume normal service again
