Marble Arch

Despite the grey and drizzling rain
The Marble Arch shines bright
A beacon through the weather
Exudes a feel of light
Perhaps that's why,
It's still a place to meet
Its magnet pull attracts
People and pigeons to it's feet
While the blur of red buses
And traffic thunders loud
Incongruent, yet majestic
It stands out, tall and proud
The wind whips the flags
Salutes to all corners of the earth
Welcomes all visitors to
The Palace hearth
Except that was then
And this is now
The boundaries changed
No longer gate or royal prow
But still it's beauty
And regal air
Is a joy to behold
And draws us there
