I hope we are an oak

How strong is the love
That entwines our hearts?
So much passion and care
Invested in nurturing
The seed of love
That not so long ago
Sensed the sun
Pushed through in awe
Now tall and strong
And still growing
It feels like it will never stop
In our minds a sequoia
Shooting for the sky
Tho' we've not felt winter yet
And while basking and thriving in the sun
Our leaves unfurl
Our growth rings are added
But when the storm arrives
When our leaves are wrenched from us
Leaving us bare and exposed
Will our roots run deep
Stand strong against the winds pull
When the fir trees fall all around us
With their shallow anchors
Oh, I hope we are an oak
