The day the sun came (a poem about the floods in Reading)

Through the storm clouds and the wind
The sun came sparkling through
We turned our faces upwards
Felt a hope and smiled anew
Perhaps the spring comes early
To draw the floods away
Return our lives to normal
Drain the sadness from today
Soon we'll see the crocus blossom
And we'll join our hands in thanks
Remove the frown,on Reading town
And love again the river banks
